He has defeated boxers like Tony Esperiti, Lamar Clark and Sonny Banks. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1984.After his retirement also, he has remained a popular figure in American sports world. Muhammad Ali shows qualities like honor and courage because he has won 56 boxing matches. He was nicknamed “The Greatest”. In 1999, he was crowned ‘Sportsman of the Century’.
Salvatore Giunta (Born January 21 1985) Salvatore Giunta is a war hero. He is the first living person to receive the United States Armed Forces' highest decoration for valor, the Medal of Honor. Salvatore Giunta is a staff sergeant in the U.S. Armed Forces. Over the years, he has earned a Purple Heart medal, a bronze star medal, and even a medal of honor. He shows qualities like courage and humility because in Afghanistan, he heroically jumped through a wall of fire and risked his life to save a troop.
Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger III (Born January 23, 1951) Sullenberger is an American airline pilot. He is also an international speaker on airline safety. He has served as a fighter pilot for the United States Air Force. Chesley Sullenberger is a hero because he successfully landed an aircraft in Hudson river, new York on January 15, 2009 and saved 155 lives. He was awarded the Founder’s Medal by the Air League. He shows qualities like courage and strength because of his heroic act.
Michael Jordan (Born February 17, 1963) Michael Jordan is a famous American basketball player. Michael Jordan is one of my heroes because he is acclaimed to be the greatest basketball player of all time. He has won numerous awards and set many records during his career. In 1982, he led the Tar Heels to a national championship. He was inducted to the basketball hall of fame on September 11, 2009. He shows qualities like great strength and honor. Stephen Hawking- (Born 8 January 1942) Stephen Hawking is a great genius and is considered one of the world's most famous physicist and cosmologist. He has studied in prestigious universities like Cambridge and Oxford. He suffered a disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis which severely disabled him. Still, he was able to write many books and do his research. In 2009, he was awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States. He is one of my heroes because he shows perseverance.
